Malaysian Borneo, state of Sarawak, city of Kuching. This is where our family will be flying in, oh, seven weeks or so.

It's a good-sized city, with a population close to that of Boston. I don't know if that bit of information helps you -- for me it's limited, because I've never been to Boston.

Kuching also gets about four times as much rain as Boston. Less snow, though.
Oh wow, that is great. I was wondering what part of the world you were headed. I spent several weeks on the other side of the island, but I didn't get a chance to travel around extensively.
ReplyDeleteRandom piece of information I learned yesterday: Madagascar was most likely colonized by people from Borneo. Malagasy, a language derived from Borneo the people of Borneo is still spoken there. Craziness. You probably already know that because you study languages, but I did find it quite fascinating.
I wish you and your family the best with the move. Take care and safe travels!
Bruce, I actually did not know that about Malagasy. I'm glad to have heard it first from you!
